Life-Coaching

Chronic stress and anxiety take a toll on not only our mental health but eventually on our physical wellbeing too.  This connection is well documented.  We can look after our physical self but we also need to take care of our emotional wellbeing.  I offer 1:1 coaching specifically for women to help with issues surrounding emotional and physical wellbeing. This can be either in person and online.  I offer a free initial appointment.

My Approach

Stress and problems are a normal part of life.  Most of the time we can cope with them and move on without any issues.  However, things can happen that mean that coping with the ups and downs of life is not so easy.  Sometimes even the changes we wanted can be stressful.

Added to this are the emotional traumas we may have experienced as a child which cause us to have difficulty dealing with stressors in day to day life as an adult.

Our bodies react to the way we think, the way we act and the way we feel.  When we are anxious then our body reacts - you might get a stomach ache, or a headache, for instance.  Not only that, when we are chronically stressed our body is constantly in flight or fight mode which means the body cannot function at it's best. 

Fortunately there are tools and methods to improve both our physical AND emotional health.  My ethos is all about equipping people with their own toolbox which they can dip into when they need to. 

I've suffered with periods of stress, anxiety and depression myself, I understand first hand what it's like, and that is how I came to learn these techniques which I now offer to, share with, and teach others.

About me

I'm Sue Jaycock and I have been a complementary therapist for over 20 years.  I started off as a Massage Therapist, then became a Bowen Therapist and as my career progressed I realised the massive impact that stress and anxiety have on the body. The mind and body are intrinsically linked. I now work as a Wellbeing Life-Coach as well as a Physical Therapist in order to help my clients to improve their lives and make positive change by equipping them with the knowledge and tools that are needed.   I also enjoy teaching and offer a range of  one day wellbeing workshops, longer courses and online courses.

What is Bowen?

Bowen Technique is an effective and gentle soft tissue therapy which is suitable for people of all ages.  It consists of very precise rolling type movements using the fingers and thumbs which are designed to stimulate neural pathways and affects the nervous systems of the body. It is relaxing to receive.  Bowen Technique originated  in Australia, and was developed by a therapist called Tom Bowen.

What is Life-Coaching?

A life coach helps people to improve their lives. A client might want to address an issue or project in their life that they want to change or improve. Their coach helps them to reach their goal by examining what is going on now, what might be holding them back and then deciding on a course of action.  I specialise in coaching women, and as a Wellbeing Therapist I integrate this knowledge into my coaching.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy using essential oils from plants and flowers. The oils can be used in many ways including aromatherapy massage and inhalation. Aromatherapy oils have an effect on well being and help reduce stress.  The most relaxing way to use aromatherapy is through the experience of an aromatherapy massage. Essential oils are added to a carrier oil and massaged into the skin.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy healing technique which originated in Japan and is ideal for stress reduction and relaxation which promotes the body to heal. Reiki is used in hospitals in the UK, USA, Australia, amongst others.  It is used for patients with stress and mood disorders; to complement convential cancer treatments; in palliative care.

What is Indian Head Massage?

This is a seated massage which is carried out through clothing and without oils. 

It is ideal if you are short on time and are struggling with neck and shoulder pain, headaches or stress and tension. 

 

Indian Head Massage is very helpful where your job requires sitting still in front of a computer or similar static position all day.
